House Rules

The Secret Garden is our family holiday home which we are happy to share when we aren't using it. As it is our family holiday home it contains many things that are special to us, and it means more to us than just a rental property. Some of our regular guests have come to feel the same way about it, so for us and our guests we ask that you consider the following.

Functions, Parties and Weddings

We don't allow parties or functions to be held at the property without prior arrangement. Please contact us to discuss.

Common Sense and Courtesy

This isn't us just being picky, each of these comes from a real example that we have experienced:

  • No Smoking inside. If you smoke outside please use an ashtray and empty it into the rubbish before you leave (please don't throw your dirty yucky cigarette butts on the lawn or the garden).
  • Please leave the house in a clean and tidy state e.g. It would be great if you could place dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn it on before you leave.
  • The house is for paying guests only. Whilst we don't mind if you have friends around for a visit or lunch etc, the house is not to be used for parties or big gatherings. Formal functions (e.g. weddings) may be permitted by prior arrangement; please contact us to discuss your plans.
  • Please leave the furniture where it was found. Outdoor furniture lives outdoors and indoor furniture lives indoors. This includes stereo equipment - please don't move the speakers, stereo cabinet or the stereo cables at the back of the cabinet.
  • Please place rubbish including wine bottles into the wheelie bin provided.
  • Damaged items are to be replaced or be brought to our attention. Accidents happen - please take responsibility for them and let us know about them.
  • Please treat the neighbourhood with respect.  Many of the houses are owner occupied.
  • We need help with the BBQ – The cleaners are finding it extremely difficult to clean the BBQ after it has cooled off.  If you use it, can you please wipe it down with paper towels while still warm.
  • Pets are not allowed without prior arrangement. If (by prior arrangement) your dog has joined you on your stay, please pick up their poo from the lawn, put it into a plastic bag, and put it into the bin.
  • Please treat our home with respect for its owners and future guests.

Thank you and we hope you enjoy your stay!
